This young fellow’s eyes were watching me as I painted him and as a result, while you move around this paining, the eyes still seem to follow you. It was bit unnerving, but I was glad I was able to achieve his stare. I’m taking off with color, and enjoying interpreting the the subject my way.

I never got her name, but her slender figure inspired me to have fun with color and elongate her further. She is such a very willowy person and has the look of “I can’t be bothered right now”. She had several tattoos, which I elected not to include in this painting of her, but can be found in the painting Art on Art.

I did this one strictly with a palette knife to augment my traditional approach, and prevent me from getting too “knit picky”. I used more color to express lively personality, even though she was rather sedate for this sitting. This gal is a real cowgirl, riding in rodeo’s, roping and barrel racing.

My purpose with Cowgirl Contemplating was to paint a horse, but not to have it the main focus – as horses are dear to my heart. This was far more difficult that you might imagine!
